My 7-Day London Adventure: First or Second day?

My Dear Gentle Readers!

Owww. Sorry. This isn’t about the Bridgerton Netflix series, and I’m not Lady Whistledown! 🤣

Let’s consider that the flight day wasn’t the first day of the trip, ok? I wrote about the flight, the bus, and the hostel in the previous post. 👍

This was my plan for the 7-day trip to London. Obviously, I couldn’t do all this sightseeing as planned. But I visited almost 100%. I highlighted in red the places I couldn’t see. 🙌

7-day calendar

Now, my focus is on the second day.

I planned to visit Camden Town, followed by the Tower of London, Tower Hill, and Tower Bridge… perhaps HMS Belfast. I would love to visit this ship. 😒

Day Planned

I started the day with a normal breakfast, free for all guests, and I walked to Camden Town (almost 75 minutes). 🚶‍♂️

Map First Day

My first sightseeing spots were The Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. Unbelievable construction.

My Gentle Readers, cough cough, I have great photos and videos from these incredible places but I will upload them in the next posts. 😅

The Big Ben and The Westminster Abbey

As you can see, It’s raining cats and dogs. This situation almost ruined the trip.

Well, I went straight to The Big Ben, turned right at Parliament Street and Whitehall, and walked until my first stop, Trafalgar Square and The National Gallery (photos on the fourth-day trip post).

After that, I followed my map, taking Charing Cross Road, and Tottenham Court Road until my unexpected second stop, the Warhammer store. 😲

After around 38 minutes, I arrived at Candem Town with a hurt foot. My shoes were completely wet! 😣

Unbelievable place to meet friends, eat a great variety of food with your family, or go for a walk with your significant other in these incredible galleries.

My first visit was to this amazing store called Cyberdog with two gigantic statues. I though… What is this? These gigantic robots?

And when the doors opened…

Wooooow. Woooow. The music and the store were amazing.

I had lunch after this, sorry, I didn’t take a photo 😑 and I continued exploring those galleries.

As I told you, my Dear Reader, at the beginning of this post, I had a situation that almost ruined the entire trip. My feet, socks and shoes were entirely wet! 😅 First, I stopped to change my socks and dry my feet. I bought new socks and put two bags in each foot trying to keep them dry. After that, I returned to walk through amazing galleries.

Photo 3 – I don’t know how to describe this store! 😅 But I found it very different and “illuminated”. 🤣

Photo 4 – A vintage gallery with a dozen stores called Stables Market.

Photo 5 – A tunnel gallery called Egyptomania dedicated to all things Egyptian and much gold and jewels 💍💎🥇 with “strange” and bad-tempered sellers. 😶

Photo 6 – Hans and Gretel store. Well, I don’t like chocolate. 😒

My visit to Camden Town was finished. My feet were very damaged from walking for hours in the rain.

I took the underground from Camden Town Station to London Bridge Station and walked towards Tower Bridge.

Next to Tower Bridge, I saw HMS Belfast. Unfortunately, I couldn’t enter this floating museum from the Second World War.

The famous Tower Bridge with Beatles soundtrack.

Tower of London

Incredible castle! Officially, His Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London. I have more photos that I will share with you in the next post.

Coppa Club

Amazing place! I need to go with my wife to this place!

I tried to take photos without showing people inside. 😏

Before I finished my day, I went to Borough Market. A beautiful place with all kinds of stores selling food, like the Oyster Bar, a restaurant specializing in oysters.

I love this architecture with these bricks. It’s so different, I think, because I’m not used to seeing this kind of architecture. Almost 80/90% of old and new constructions follow this style using theses bricks. I need to research more about this and I swear I will create a post about it.

I found Leroy Merlin selling ceramic cladding imitating london brick -> https://www.leroymerlin.pt/produtos/fabricado-em-portugal/fabricado-em-portugal-de-pavimentos-e-revestimentos/revestimento-ceramico-brick-london-33x47cm-90787358.html

This was the state of the bags when I came to The Walrus Hostel! 😁

What a wonderful day! 😁 I walked, saw, and spoke a lot.

The total length of the second day’s trip:

By foot – 8 miles or 12.87 km
By underground Camden Town Station to London Bridge – 32mins

Yours Truly,

Bruno Amaral.
